Water Monitoring
Litchfield supply and install waterBOX units in commercial and residential properties across the UK. The device is inexpensive, with many features:
- Saving energy costs - temperature readings are monitored and warnings sent by email or SMS when systems are running too hot
- waterBOX allows proactive management of virtually any water system, offering daily warning of any under-temperature situation AND stopping unnecessary energy wastage
- Savings on the building insurance with its built-in leakage early warning system
- Reduce risk of Legionella bacteria
- waterBOX is a totally wireless system with no requirement for an external power source due to its three year battery life
- It is entirely self-managing after installation and will provide regular updates on the temperature of the water tank - thus eliminating any time consuming manual core temperature tests
- The waterBOX is not expensive; its ground-breaking system is incredibly cost-effective and is saving businesses thousands of pounds through reduced energy costs
How does it work?
waterBOX connects to a internet-based application to allow monitoring and control the temperature levels in hot and cold water storage tanks. This provides easy access to simple, secure web based reports with accurate daily temperature up-dates provided on a regular basis.
What about Legionella?
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 strict guidelines are established to consider the risks from Legionella that may affect people in a business, or members of the public. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (as amended) says that the responsible person a business must assess the risks to all persons from bacteria like Legionella and take suitable precautions.
Any business that employs five or more people, or is used or accessed by members of the public, is required by law to comply with the Health & Safety Act. The Act dictates that the business owner and the responsible person are legally obliged to:
- routinely check all water systems and the temperature recorded with a risk assessment for the whole of the water system carried out once every 2 years - reviewed annually
- Retain records for up to five years
- Put in place a written control scheme to prevent or control the risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria
