 This £1.2 million project was delivered in 16 weeks. It involved the refurbishment of a supermarket with minimal disruption to normal operations. The sales floor was increased in size due to just in time supply systems; a new roof, ceiling, wall tiles, floor and shelving units were installed. The existing air-conditioning, refrigeration plant and equipment were also replaced. The crucial aspect of this type of refurbishment is the teamwork between the store manager and the construction manager. Adaptability is needed on both sides. Detailed project planning, hour by hour, is important as the knock-on effects of work completed late is greater in this type of work than most other projects. These projects require thinking outside the box in order to accommodate the client whilst still maintaining progress. |
